Math-imal
A creature that gets hungry for maths. Children practise their times tables every day to feed it, and it grows with them! No adverts, no tracking, and no account to sign up for.

info@lazy-android.comFrequently asked
Does my child need an account?
No. There is no sign-up, no email address and no password. The app works straight out of the box, and works offline.
What does it cost?
Everything needed to learn is free. There are optional one-time purchases for decorations: a bed, posters, rugs, extra display shelves. None of them make the maths easier or the app better at teaching, and none of them are subscriptions.
Can my child buy something by accident?
Every purchase sits behind a parental gate that a young child cannot pass, and then behind your device's normal payment confirmation. If you use Apple's Ask to Buy or Google's family approval, the request comes to your phone as usual.
I bought something and it's gone after reinstalling.
Open the shop and tap Restore Purchases. Everything you have bought is permanent and tied to your store account, so it comes back on any device you sign in with. If it doesn't, write to us.
We got a new phone. Is the Math-imal lost?
The creature and its progress are backed up automatically. Restoring your phone from an Apple or Google backup brings it across. If you set the new phone up from scratch, write to us with the backup code from the app's Privacy page and we can help.
Are there adverts?
None, of any kind. No banners, no video adverts, no cross-promotion, no advertising or analytics code from anyone else.
Privacy Policy
Math-imal is built for children of around six to nine. A child that age cannot consent to anything, so this policy is written for the parent who installed the app: the only person who can.
The short version
No account. No adverts. No analytics or tracking code from anyone. Nothing about your child is sold, shared or used to build a profile. Two things leave the phone: a backup of the creature and its progress, so it survives a new phone, and a record of any purchase you make. Both are stored under a random code that is not linked to a name, an email address or your device's advertising identifier.
What we never ask for
Math-imal has no sign-up and no login. It never asks for a name, an email address, a date of birth, a phone number, a photograph or a location. It does not read your contacts, your photos, your calendar or your microphone, and it does not use your device's advertising identifier. There is no advertising code and no analytics service in the app: not Google Analytics, not Firebase, not Facebook, not anyone.
The one identifier
When the app is first opened it generates one random code for that installation and stores it securely on the device. It is not derived from anything about your phone or about you, and it cannot be matched to anything outside this app. It is what a backup is filed under. We call it pseudonymous rather than anonymous, because it is stable and belongs to one installation: under the GDPR that makes it personal data, and calling it anything else would be misleading. The child is never shown it. The first eight characters appear on the app's own Privacy page so that you can quote them when you write to us.
What gets backed up
The creature and the progress belonging to it, saved under that random code when the creature is first hatched and after each finished practice session:
- The creature: the name your child gave it, its colours and features, its mood, and the accessories and decorations it owns.
- Progress: the daily streak, how many sessions have been done, how many questions were answered and how many were right, and which times-tables facts are known well and which still need practice.
- Stars earned, items collected, and which optional purchases have been unlocked.
- Three technical details about the phone, so we know what to keep the app working on: whether it is an iPhone or an Android device, the major version of its operating system (for example "18", never the exact build), and which language the app is running in.
Worth knowing: the creature's name is free text that your child types in, and it is part of the backup. Most children name their creature something like Blobby. If yours has typed their own name in, and you would rather it were not stored, rename the creature in the app or write to us.
Purchases
Payment is handled entirely by Apple or Google. We never see your card details, your billing address or your name: the store does not give them to us. When a purchase completes, the app sends the store's own receipt, the item bought, the transaction number and the same random installation code to our server, which checks the receipt with Apple and records that the purchase happened. That record exists so that a purchase which fails can be found and put right.
Reminders
The app can show a daily reminder to practise. These are scheduled on the phone itself and never leave it, there is no notification server, and no list of who gets reminded. Turn them off in your phone's settings at any time and nothing else changes.
Who else is involved
Backups and purchase records are stored with Supabase, a hosting provider acting on our instructions and on no one else's, on servers in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany). Apple and Google handle payment and app distribution under their own privacy policies. That is the complete list. No advertising network, no analytics company and no data broker receives anything, and nothing is ever sold.
Children
This app is intended for children, and it is built accordingly. Nothing your child does is used to profile them, to target advertising, or to work out anything about them beyond which times tables they have learned. We do not knowingly collect anything from a child beyond what is listed above, and none of it is used for any purpose other than running the app for them. Under the GDPR we rely on the parent or guardian who installed the app; under COPPA, we collect no personal information of the kinds that rule is concerned with.
How long it is kept
A backup is kept while the app is in use and deleted after 24 months with no activity: an installation that has not synced in two years is not coming back. Purchase records are kept longer, because tax and consumer law require it. Ask us to delete a backup sooner and we will.
Deleting your child's data
Open Menu → Privacy in the app. Near the bottom you will find a backup code and an email link that fills the message in for you. Send it and we will delete the backup. You do not have to give a reason.
The code is the only thing that identifies the backup, so we do need it: without it there is no way to tell which one is yours. Deleting the app from the phone removes everything held on the device, but not the backup on the server; for that, send the code. Requests are handled by hand, normally within a few days and always within one month.
Your rights
If you are in the EU or the UK, you have the right to ask what is stored, to get a copy of it, to have it corrected or deleted, and to complain to your data protection authority. Write to us with the backup code and we will answer. Because there is no account, the code is the only way we can find the right record, we cannot identify anyone by name, which is the intended design.
Changes
If what the app collects ever changes, this page changes with it and the date below is updated. A change that meaningfully widens what is collected will be announced in the app, not just here.
